Hiding the menu bar when presenting full-screen in Canva

Canva is a great presentation tool, but how do I get rid of my menu bar when presenting?

Canva is a great presentation tool and has a great library of resources, including pictures, videos, shapes, and gifs for any profession and corporate, school, or fun presentation. I wrestled with the following issue for a long-time and a lot of web and Youtube videos before accidentally finding a solution.

Presenting Canva in full-screen in its web version will still leave a sliver of the website menu at the top of the screen. Normally this won’t create an issue, but if you are recording an on-line course or presenting a webinar, this may be an area of your screen you would like to keep hidden.

An easy, but not obvious fix

There is an easy fix for this. It turns out this is not a Canva issue, but an operating system item. I just use a Mac so am not familiar with a similar fix in Windows, but check the relative areas in Windows and you will probably find a menu command that works.

On a Mac, select:

System Preferences>Dock and Menu Bar

and make sure the box at the bottom labelled “Automatically hide and show the menu bar in full screen” is checked.

That’s it! An easy fix, but one that took awhile to find. Now, if someone could pass along the solution for why, in Safari, when I click on a link to a website or article about half of the time it takes me to the start screen instead. But, if I right-click on the same link and select “open link in new tab” the link works. :)

Seriously, leave a comment if you know the solution. Thanks!
